 2. Don’t smoke or stop smoking 

Everybody is already aware of smoking and its effect on the lungs. It is said to be the primary cause of lung cancer. But it can also give you other chronic lung infections. Smokers are 12-13 times most likely to die from a respiratory disease than a non-smoker. With smoking you inhale so many chemicals that they are absorbed by the cells and become cancerous. 3. Exercise for healthier lungs Besides avoiding cigarettes, getting regular exercise is probably the most important tip you can follow to keep your pair of lungs happy. When you exercise, your lungs work harder to pump more oxygen and throwing out the carbon-dioxide. This process resists ageing and other diseases to affect your lungs. 

4. Stay away from the pollution If you live in a big city, it gets very difficult to avoid exposure to pollutants. But, it’s important to do so. When you are young, the lungs can easily fight these toxins. But as you grow old, it becomes rather difficult. You can plant some indoor plants, stay away from second-hand smoking and avoid heavy traffic areas as much as possible. 

5. Breathing Exercises Yogic breathing exercises help you breathe better. It increases your vital capacity and is very beneficial to the lungs. Yoga says that only when we practice breathing exercise, we are actually breathing to the fullest. Shallow breath is associated with anxiety, depression and other diseases. Make sure to include them in your routine. When you do these exercises, you become more calm and relaxed.
