What is a Back Brace?

A back brace (also known as a back belt) is a wearable device that helps protect the lumbar spine (lower back). These braces wrap around the torso to unload the strain and stress of everyday activity from the vertebrae, discs, muscles and ligaments.

Back braces are recommended for people with lower back pain, instability and/or back injuries. Examples of conditions that may benefit from a back belt include:

  • Lower back pain
  • Back spasms
  • Strains
  • Sprains
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Some cases of sciatica
  • Disc herniations and bulges

Although people with these conditions may benefit from wearing a back brace, it's always best to consult a health professional, such as a physiotherapist and/or doctor.

Wearing a back brace can provide the necessary support to help you live out your day. Forget about living in fear about when your aches might come raging back. Live confidently, knowing that you perform your day-to-day activities without fear of pain. Whether you experience pain with lifting, sitting or any other activity, the back brace provides optimal support to your back and livelihood.

There are many different types of back braces on the market. The shape, size and design of each belt can be beneficial depending on the wearer's needs. Some of our belts have air decompression technology that helps unload the weight through the back. Caremax's back belt has in-built air cells that can inflate to decompress the spine.

Back braces are vital for those who wish to live normally without back pain. They offer instant and immediate relief from lower back soreness or discomfort. Typically, health professionals advise using braces during more strenuous activities, such as work or walking long distances. Reducing the stress and tension through the back allows for a faster recovery.

Everything to Know About Our Back Braces and Belts

Caremax's TGA approved back braces and belts offer maximal support without compromising comfort. Derived from a breathable cotton inner layer and sturdy outer polyurethane leather layer, this belt will remain wearer-friendly, even for long periods.

Our braces are suitable for all shapes and sizes. Spanning from a 29-inch (80cm) to 49-inch (120cm) waist size, these belts offer instant support to young athletes and seniors. An additional 12-inch (25cm) extender can also be purchased separated for those with larger waist diameters.

The inflatable air cells found inside the belt are unique to the Dr Physio back belt and brace. When inflated, the upwards pressure from the air cells helps decompress the spine. Reducing the load through the muscles, discs, and joints alleviates the strain and stress of everyday living.

Also included in the brace are small magnetic discs to deliver magnetic therapy to those who respond well to alternative treatments.
