  • Nebuliser Masks

These come in both adult and child sizes to ensure a comfortable fit. Having the right size means everyone in the family is covered.

  • Tubing & Connectors

These ensure efficient medication delivery. Check for any kinks or wear and tear regularly. Look for replacements as necessary.

  • Medicine Bottles/Cups

  • Filters

A nebuliser filter maintains clean airflow so they need to be checked and replaced periodically. This is to ensure that the nebuliser operates efficiently.

  • Mouthpieces

For those who prefer not to use masks, nebuliser mouthpieces are a great alternative. They are just as effective for medication inhalation. Mouthpieces can even sometimes be more comfortable and convenient. Whether it’s a preference or a need, knowing you have options is reassuring.

Everything to Know About Our Nebuliser Accessories

How Often Should I Replace My Nebuliser Filter?

Nebuliser filters maintain clean airflow through the device. Generally, it is recommended to replace your nebuliser filter every 1-3 months. This depends on your usage. Heavy users may need to replace the filter more frequently. On the other hand, occasional users may be able to extend the replacement period.

Always check with your nebuliser manufacturer’s guidelines for specific recommendations.

How Often Should I Replace My Nebuliser Mask and Tubing?

Nebuliser mask should generally be replaced every 6 to 12 months. Meanwhile, nebuliser tubing should be replaced every 3 to 6 months. This is because proper maintenance and replacement prevent bacteria buildup so always inspect these components for signs of wear and tear.

Do All Nebuliser Accessories Fit Any Machine?

Not all nebuliser accessories in Australia are compatible with Caremax machine. For example, accessories designed for mesh nebulisers often do not fit desktop compressor nebulisers and vice versa. Check the compatibility of replacement parts for nebulisers with your specific machine before purchasing.

Refer to the manufacturer’s guidelines to make sure and if need be, consult your supplier directly to make sure you are buying the correct accessories for your device.

What’s the Difference Between a Mask and a Mouthpiece?

Masks are typically more suitable for children, although there are nebuliser adult masks available too. Nebuliser adult masks are for those who may have difficulty using a mouthpiece. They cover both the nose and mouth for easier inhalation.

Mouthpieces, meanwhile, offer a direct delivery of medication. Often, they are preferred by adults who can comfortably use them. But of course, choosing the right option depends on the user's comfort.

How Do I Clean and Maintain Nebuliser Accessories?

Here is a general guide to follow:

  1. Remove the mask/mouthpiece, medicine cup, and tubing from the nebuliser.
  2. Rinse all parts (except the tubing) under warm, running water.
  3. Wash the accessories with a mild liquid detergent and water. Use a gentle brush to clean the medicine cup and mask/mouthpiece.
  4. Rinse thoroughly to remove any detergent residue.
  5. Allow all parts to air dry on a clean towel. Avoid using cloth towels to dry. This is because they can leave lint on the accessories.

Mesh nebulisers require extra cleaning due to their fine mesh screen so make sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions as improper cleaning can damage the mesh. This can affect the performance of the nebuliser. Usually, the mesh should be soaked in a cleaning solution. Then, it is rinsed thoroughly before air drying.

What Are the Signs That My Nebuliser Cup Needs Replacing?

Signs that your nebuliser cup needs replacing include:

  • Reduced airflow or output during treatment.
  • A buildup of dust or particles visible on the filter.
  • Noticeable changes in the sound or efficiency of the nebuliser.

Regularly inspect your nebuliser and replace it at the first sign of any of these issues to ensure it continues to function efficiently and deliver the medication effectively.

Cleaning Instructions for Caremax Mesh Nebuliser Cup

In case you're encountering the issue of the white flashing light, this is due to the machine's inability to detect water in the cup. This typically occurs when there is a blockage in the cup head near the metal mesh plate. As a result of this blockage, the machine exerts considerable effort to generate a puff of mist but ultimately fails due to the obstruction.

To address this, it's essential to perform proper maintenance to keep your mesh nebuliser in optimal condition and prevent clogs. Please follow these steps to unclog the metal plate:

  • Remove the cup from the nebuliser.
  • Place the top medicine bottle in the warm tap water (below 70°C) for a few minutes.
  • Remove the AAA battery and use the supplied USB cable to supply the power.
  • Put the medicine bottle back in the machine. Add warm water to the cup holder. Then, long-press for 5 seconds to activate the self-cleaning mode. During this mode, you will observe that all three lights on the machine illuminate. The machine will then begin to clear the blockage. You may need to repeat this deep cleaning process a few times to completely remove the blockage.

Performing this quick cleaning routine daily, both before and after each use, will effectively prevent any liquid from obstructing the nebuliser for smooth functioning.

In the end, please kindly note that it is recommended by the manufacturer to replace the medicine bottle every 5-6 months.
